Where is my gas / fuel gauge?
The F4i does not have a fully-functional fuel gauge, but instead it's almost like the gas light that pops up in your car when you're running on empty.
When the fuel indicator (1) comes on, you have approximately 0.92 gallons 3.5 litres of fuel remaining. You should fill up as soon as possible! The fuel reserve segments (2) will flash in sequence according to the distance traveled.
It's recommended practice to reset one of your trip odometers each time you fill up your fuel tank, and keep an eye on how many miles you've gone. It's the best replacement for a full-time fuel gauge. Most people's miles-per-tank will be fairly consistent (except for those occasional days full of shenanigans).
After you refuel, the indicator will turn back off after the following conditions are met:
- More than 90 seconds has elapsed.
- The engine is running.
- The side stand is raised.
- The amount of fuel is more than 0.92 gallons 3.5 litres.
- Unrelated, the fuel gauge will also reset if the battery is disconnected.
